This web site is solely owned and maintained by Ralan. It provides up-to-date listings of markets that only accept submissions with speculative genres/elements. It started on 5 December 1996 as a way for authors to find markets, and to organize writing links. As I began to share this information with other writers they soon started helping back, pointing out new markets, and noting changes in those already listed. Many publishers and editors are also actively involved. This three-way interaction continues. Other sites now provide a similar service, but arguably Ralan.com—at least in the speculative genres—still has the most up-to-date market listings, submission tips, help articles, and a writing link page second to none.
