Submission Guidelines

This anthology opens for submission on March 1st and closes on March 31st, as it says on the main listing you clicked on to get here. If you submit before then, it will be deleted unread and the editor will not consider any further submissions from you.

Trans: dictionary definition "across, over, cross-wise; beyond, on, or to the other side(of); through; into another state of place." The Concise English Dictionary.

Transtories is an anthology that will be available as a print and e-book from Aeon Press.

Transtories will be a collection of original stories based on, developed from or including any word from the dictionary prefixed by 'trans;' the words in my dictionary run from transact or transcend to transverse, transvestism or Transylvanian. You'll need to state the base word at the end of the the story.

Stories should be any length from 3000 to 7500 words, although stories in the 4000 to 6000 word range will be preferred. Within that, you can write any sub-genre of SF or fantasy -- you have a completely free hand about content as long as we can see a connection to the word.

Stories should be formatted to a professional standard, in Courier or Times New Roman 12 font, double spaced with a 1" margin all round. Title your e-mail 'Fiction SUB Transtories: title' and include a few biographical details in your mail. Attach your story as an rtf. Any subs that don't comply with these criteria will be deleted unread. Send to feedback2ch at yahoo dot co uk.

We'll be paying a ten pound advance against royalties for stories, for which we will expect twelve months exclusive rights electronically and one time anthology rights for the hard copy. We'd also like to hear your ideas for helping it sell.
